Welcome to Tasty Tuesday for this Sweet Peeps Extravaganza! We went a little crazy with the Peeps around here this week. I think I’ve had my share of sugar for awhile, and even the kids aren’t asking for more right now.

First, we made these cute little chick cupcakes! We don’t eat coconut around here, but how else can you make a nest? Maybe pretzels or something. We gave some of these to the neighbors and the “hot dog lady” at the park. They look good, but ya gotta like coconut!

Then we tried a little cupcake with eggs…

Then we moved on to dip bunnies and chicks in melted chocolate and sprinkles.

Ours didn’t turn out quite like these…we were a little heavy on the chocolate and the sprinkles, but they tasted great!

This really wasn’t the look I was hoping for, but it was fun! My boys put some in the freezer and tried them frozen. It got two thumbs up from them.

Spring is in the air!  I find myself searching for pretty decorations and fun things to do more than usual. Well, I ran across some really interesting things to share with all of ya’ll!

Peeps have always been a part of Easter baskets and Spring. You can find them in so many shapes and colors now. {I love the new green.}  They even have them out around Halloween…that’s not for me. No, I’m a Spring Peep kinda person. I need yellow chicks and pink bunnies!

I never knew there were so many fans of these marshmallow creations until today.

I found out that Lenox China has a line with Peeps! Peeps! We’re talking marshmallows here!

This is a personalized Peeps Bunny Sculpture!

I was really surprised at how cute it was! What a wonderful gift for someone sweet!

What about Peeps Salt and Pepper Shakers? These would be great for Spring!

Who knew they could make a Peep look pretty enough for a holiday dinner?

Peeps has a website with a Peeps Club with tons of activities.  These little baskets looks easy!  

I couldn’t believe there’s a book just for Peeps!

This is loaded with fun recipes and crafts. What a fun book to have around!

If you have kids that like to play online games, I found this fun little site with a Marshmallow Peeps in Outer Space. I’m sure Peep Invaders will entertain them for awhile during Spring Break.

Have you ever made your own candles?

Candles can be made with things you already have around the house. I’ve used jars, old candle tins, and…

Shells!

If you haven’t made candles before you should give it a try. For one thing, it’s just so easy! But the best part is that you’ll hear “Oh, you made that!” a TON!  This makes for a great project!

First, you buy these supplies from a craft store…

Wicks, fragrance, dye, and Soy Wax.

I like the way Soy Wax melts so I always use it whenever I’m making candles. A little goes a long ways so plan on making a ton of candles or having some supplies for later. The fragrance and dye can be used in soaps as well. {That’s for another day.}

I haven’t had time to take photos of each step, so I’ll just explain it to you for now.

1. Find and clean a large shell.
2. Take a glass measuring cup and melt one cup of wax to start.{Be sure to read the directions!}
3. Prop your shell up in a towel to hold it level.
4. Stir a drop or two of color and fragrance into your wax.
5. Hold a wick in the center of the shell as you pour in your wax to the desired level.
6. Let it cool and your done!

Tips: I use just a little yellow to give it a slight color like the inside of a shell. I burn these candles with other shells around the base to hold them up straight while they are burning. Sand in a beautiful glass dish would work so nice. Cut the wick a little shorter before burning to keep from having a large flame.

These would be wonderful for a dinner party on the porch one warm evening! {We’re in Florida so the time in now!} The shell itself lights up so nice!

These are my upcoming projects…

I’m going to take this tea cup and turn it into a candle. It was given to us when we were married, but it has a chip now.  I still love it and I’m sure it will make a great candle!

Aren’t they pretty? You can find old tea cups at thrift stores and yard sales and turn them into wonderful gifts!

This would be great for Easter…

Making candles with things you have around the house is a great way to be creative and save money. You’ll be surprised at just how easy it is and how pretty candles can be in things you already have…like eggs!
