Toile Party Giveaway – Making a No Sew Pillow in Less Than 10 Minutes!

by Kim on March 23, 2009

We’re joining the Toile Party at Pretty Organized Palace !  (a little early because we have Tasty Tuesday tomorrow!)

I’ll admit it, I’m not a Toile expert! When people think of Toile, they don’t say…”oh, call Kim, she’s the Toile queen!” (I prefer “Princess ” anyway) Maybe that’s due to the tropical flavor of our decor which includes lots of bright colors, mostly solids!

I also have to admit this: I like Toile a lot! It’s really grown on me over the last couple of months as I’ve been more exposed to it through blogging. I’ve noticed a pattern though, when I really pay attention to the Toile that catches my eye, I realize that there is a common thread… and it’s a red one!

I love Red Toile!

This bedroom is really one of my favorites. I love color and this bedding has just the right amount of red.

So, how do you join a toile party without any toile of your own?

You make something!

Here’s a “no sew pillow” that I made in less than 10 minutes!

pillow photo

I’ll show you how you can make this pillow with some pretty fabric, a piece of foam, and a little bit of ribbon and tassels.

pillowa

The foam can be any size. The one I used is about 16 inches wide and I found it on a scrap pile at JoAnn Fabrics.

Roll it up tightly.

pillow roll

I folded the fabric so that the edges were on the inside. This allows for a clean edge on the pillow. I have about 4- 5 inches of fabric on each side of the foam.

pillow 3

Roll it up!

pillow 4

I wrapped ribbon tightly around the ends and tied it in the back with a knot.

pillow 5

Repeat on the other side and fluff the ends slightly.

pillow 7

I added the second ribbon with tassels to spice it up a little.

Ta da! One accent pillow finished and ready to add to your room!

pillow 8

Can you believe how fast you can do this?

It took less than 10 minutes and I love how it turned out!

I’m sure this isn’t my last no sew accent pillow! I was surprised myself at just how simple this was and how great it came out! If it falls apart I can tie it back up in no time flat!

If you like this little pillow maybe you can win it! I’m giving this away as my little contribution to the Toile Party.

I’m joining Works-For-Me Wednesday at We Are That Family because no sew pillow work for me!!!

I would love to have you sign-up for our RSS or Email subscriptions if you haven’t already (see the cool little flower RSS button Tim made for me!). But you don’t have to in order to win.

All you have to do is leave a comment and you’ll be entered to win the pillow! So, let me know what you think about my red Toile! And enjoy the party!

I love toile–any color toile, and I just realized that I really don’t have any in my house. How sad for me! I must go out immediately and buy some and make something!

Would love to win this, it would look great against my off-white bedspread.

Thanks for the easy crafts you feature–even those of us who are only slightly “crafty” can do these!

You are so creative. The pillow is so cute and sophisticated. It is sharp and classic.
I will have to put aside my knitting needles for a bit and see if I can do anything like this. (I do not know how to sew).
