Valentine’s Day Cupcakes on Tasty Tuesday!

by Kim on February 2, 2009

Welcome to Tasty Tuesday at Forever…Wherever!  This week, Cupcakes take the cake!

Cupcakes - sweet treats

Everybody loves cupcakes!   Nowadays they are everywhere!  From good old fashioned birthday cupcakes, to high falutin’ wedding cupcakes, cupcakes are in!

These Valentine’s Day cupcakes I made are the perfect sweet treat for your special valentines.  I didn’t have to work for hours on them either, since I used a trusty go-to yellow cupcake recipe.

The Fun is In The Decorating

I could do this all day long!  I usually just make up the designs as I go.

I already had these M&M’s which I thought looked fabulous! Tasted good too!

I had some of this Wilton’s Ready To Use Rolled Fondant icing, so I used it to cut out the little hearts!  They sell little cookie cutter sets at the craft store. Fun!

Now These are Cookbooks!

cupcakes - cookbooks

Crazy about Cupcakes and A Baker’s Field Guide to Cupcakes are two of my favorite cookbooks!  They include easy step-by-step instructions to help you create cupcake art like Martha Stewart!

These are Banana Cupcakes with Honey-Cinnamon Frosting and I would like to try them next!

The Sweet Rewardscupcakes - jacob

My helper was pretty happy after we were done!  I usually get volunteers for this kind of cooking.

Go figure!

This last picture is a chocolate version!  It was a hit too!

Now let’s see what you brought to Tasty Tuesday this week!  Thanks for coming, and enjoy all the great recipes.  Remember, you can also post restaurant reviews, health food tips (unlike my contribution), or anything to do with food.

Now don’t forget to put a link back to us in your post so the party will be more fun for everyone! You can use the button over in our sidebar if you would like. Of course, if orange just isn’t your color…you can do a simple text link!

Enjoy!

What gorgeous cupcakes. I especially like the effect of lots of little dabs of frosting in the top photo.

Those cupcakes are so beautiful. I always think about making cupcakes more often but for some reason I never do. I know my kids would love them too! Thanks for the inspiration. We’ll definitely have to have some fun decorating our own for Valentine’s Day.

Your cupcakes look wonderful! I appreciate the cookbook recommendations….I am always looking for new ones but hate to buy sight unseen and without a reliable opinion.

Thanks, also, for the opportunity to participate in Tasty Tuesday…you are such a great hostess!

The banana cupcakes looks absolutely divine! Also, that frosting could be used on so many different sweets – I’m excited to explore the options!

Enjoyed visiting your blog for the first time. I love cupcakes too, somehow you feel less guilty eating them than a large piece of cake!

Your cupcakes are so pretty! I have wanted to try that fondant stuff for a while now. I’m inspired, I am so making these with my kids before Valentine’s Day! With my little helpers combined with icing, my white floor will really need a mopping that day, but so worth it for tasty fun!

Love the cupcakes! No matter how hard I try or how many times I smooth the frosting over and over it never looks as cute as yours! I got decorating tips for Christmas, maybe next they’ll look nice enough to post! The hearts are so cute too, but I think may look for the big conversation heart types instead of cutting fondant.

Have to try and remember about the Tasty Tuesday for next week!

You know what, I have already checked out Tim’s site and it is wonderful. Your hubby was kind enough to offer advice on my kitchen flooring dilemma and he solved the problem. You’re a lucky gal to have such a handy hubby.

Oh and I tagged you in a sixth of the sixth meme on my site. Hope you can play along.

How I’ll be lusting after cupcakes for the rest of the day! A trip to the store may be in order :o )

It doesn’t help that I’ve heard several times today that the photo currently featured on my blog has been mistaken for a cupcake!
