The Wonder of Music – Daily Thanks

by Tim on December 20, 2008

When griping grief the heart doth wound, and doleful dumps the mind opresses, then music, with her silver sound, with speedy help doth lend redress.William Shakespeare

Thank you Lord for music!  We love music in its many forms.  We especially love the music that comes from our two boys.  Both play the piano well and both are learning more every day.  AJ with the guitar, and Jacob on violin.

Just yesterday, Jacob had the most amazing suggestion. He said he should bring his violin to play for Mrs. Mock, a family friend well up in years who is being visited by Hospice daily now.  She loved her concert and even got into the spirit when he started rockin’ “Old McDonald”!

Thank you Lord for music, and for the wonderful heart of a wonderful boy!

1/21/09 Author’s Note:  Mrs. Mock passed away last week.  She died at home in her sleep at the age of 94.

Please pass a big fat kiss onto the cheek of my sweet hearted grandson.
Both boys have such tender hearts.
As I wrapped their Christmas gifts today, I prayed for ALL of our grandchildren and thanked God for them. I felt so blessed.
Sounds like He heard more than one heart giving thanks today!!
You guys have done so well!
hugs and xxxx’s

Hey – Thanks for the comments!

Mom – Thanks for the kisses, nice words, and the presents you
were wrapping!  Looking forward to visiting on Christmas…

Diane – Thank you so much for your kind words!  We are
proud of the boys and any "good things" we’ve done have been by
the grace of God.

Sue – Thanks!  He does look cute playing doesn’t he?
The picture melts our hearts for sure.

Merry Christmas to all… we’re heading out on a big trip soon, we’ll
update from the road.

Hi Kim! Thank you for visiting my blog, and for your kind words! Please stop back by anytime. What a sweetheart your son is, to cheer up your family friend. Even better to hear that it was his idea, that is so very refreshing! I enjoyed reading your husbands post about your trip to Orcas Island. That must have been amazing! Crossing over to anywhere on a ferry is my idea of an ultimate vacation!

I am glad that your dog Buttercup is recovering nicely. The term pet just doesn’t quite seem to cut it sometimes. Dogs become a family member, and it hurts when they are not well. My cocker spaniel, JJ, is getting up in years. The cold weather bothers his old bones also! He’s a trooper though! Again, thank you for visiting!

Merry Christmas to all, ;-) Bo

Hi,
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. That brought me over to your blog, which is great. Although I can’t play anything, I am very thankful for the gift of music in others! How wonderful that your boys both play!! And how precious that he had the idea to play for the elderly lady!!! God Bless and Merry Christmas!

I should have commented here earlier today too.

This post brought back memories. My mom passed away early this fall with congestive heart failure caused by over 53 years of rheumatoid arthritis. The summer was a long one of watching her dwindle away before our eyes. One Sunday when we had all gathered in, mom was alert enough to ask for two of her grandchildren to “perform” for her – - – it was our daughter Korie singing and my neice Misti accompanying on the flute. the song – - – Amazing Grace. They only got through one verse, and there wasn’t a dry eye. They did the same thing again, all the verses this time, for her funeral in August.

I agree – music is wonderful! To me, it’s the best thing about the whole Christmas season. It is so wonderful to see your son playing, and playing for your friend especially. If I get to be her age, I would feel incredibly blessed to have such entertainment! Have a wonderful time on your trip; I’m envious!
